This annual race, along with 3 children’s races, is held annually and based right in the centre of Kirkbymoorside, starting and finishing in the same location. The finish is a wonderful downhill stretch along the High Street and spectators line the street and encourage finishers all the way to the end. Even if this is your first 10k, you will feel an enormous sense of achievement as you come down the hill!

The event is staged annually to raise money for the PTA groups of local schools Kirkbymoorisde CP School (Reg. charity 1050071), Gillamoor C of E School and Ryedale School. It is their their biggest fund raising event of the year and the money raised is used to enrich and enhance the educational experience of the children in our local area.

The event attracts local runners, club athletes from Yorkshire, neighbouring counties and even a few people from other areas of UK and abroad who make it an annual event. There is, therefore, a competitive element amongst club runners who find this quite a challenging road race but also plenty of people who come to enjoy the day and perhaps try and achieve a personal best.
Earlier in the day, the Beadlam Tractor Run travels through the town (usually around 11:45 am). They are led by our very own Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band who then stick around to play for our crowds and runners through the afternoon. It’s quite a spectacle to see 200 tractors in convoy!
With all the races, the tractors, the brass band then the stalls on the streets, shops and cafes open, it is a great day out for all the family.
